Hey, Pilgrims, Why'da Move on?: First Encounter Beach, Eastham, MA

Hey Pilgrims, Why'da Move on?
First Encounter Beach
Eastham, MA

Reasons to venture:

  • Best kept secret in history of kid beaches - what were the Pilgrims thinking when they moved on to Plimoth?
  • Literally, mile long tide pools with hermit crabs, fish, spider crabs and shrimp, oh my!
  • Five minutes from Wiley Park, a great swimming hole with a giant floating dock for kids to jump off and a sweet playground with ice cream truck drivebys to boot.
Your favorite place in Mass for a tide pool party?

I love those tide pools (though we always grew up calling them "the flats").

Wiley Park has a very good playground, too. A great way to have the kids expend some energy on the climbers and the swings.

you are so right about the playground, Lij really loved it last summer as a little one. The "flats" make more sense too.
